Back for its 13th year, Earth Festival is an environmentally-focused interactive event featuring exhibits, activities, vendors and entertainment, all with a fun, earth-friendly twist. This event attracts over 1000 people every year, and more than 30 exhibitors and vendors. This year’s activities will include the pre-festival bird walk, the EcoArt contest, yoga for beginners and children, and recycling opportunities. Cooperstown Native to Give Climate Talk at Earth Festival
Elizabeth (Renckens) Gibbons, a graduate of Cooperstown Central School, will be the featured speaker at Earth Festival. Gibbons’ talk, “Understanding and Preparing for Climate Change in Otsego County,” will provide a brief overview of the climate system, then dive deeply into current and anticipated changes for our area. The talk begins at 12:15 p.m. in the Herbert B. Garman, Jr. Performing Arts Center at the school.
A graduate from Cooperstown Central School in 2000, Gibbons is the Managing Director of the American Society of Adaptation Professionals (ASAP), the leading professional society for climate change adaptation professionals in the United States. ASAP connects and supports climate professionals, while advancing innovation in the field of practice through establishing promising practices, pushing resiliency-focused policy initiatives, and celebrating tremendous work of local community leaders.
Yoga Returns to Earth Festival!
A healthy Earth begins with a healthy body!
Katherine Walters of Love Your Life Yoga & Community in Milford will once again be teaching two FREE yoga classes: “Yoga for Beginners & Beyond”, a fun mixed level class at 11:00am. And later, at 1:00pm a class for newbies to yoga. Each class runs for 45 to 60 minutes. Please specify which class you are attending when you register. Kids’ Yoga at Earth Festival
Karla Andela, Certified yoga instructor, is also returning this year to lead kids in yoga exercises from 2:30-3:00 p.m. at Earth Festival on Saturday, April 22. The session is free and takes place in the small gym at Milford Central School. Parents are required to stay during session and are welcome to participate.
