Historic Window Restoration & Weatherization

April 13 @ 11:00 am to 1:00 pm

Free

Did you know that restoring your historic wood windows and adding storm windows makes them as energy efficient as new thermal pane windows? It also reduces waste, keeping the old windows out of landfills while preserving the historic character of your home. Come to this workshop for a hands-on demonstration of historic window sash repair, reglazing, and restoration, and learn how you can improve your energy efficiency. The workshop will be led by James Richardson, the founder and owner of Richardson Window Works in Cooperstown, NY. He started the company in 2016 to address property owners’ need for an alternative to replacing historic wood windows. James trained with Bagala Window Works in Portland, Maine and Alison Hardy, founder of Window Women of New England in Amesbury, Massachusetts, and is a member of the Window Preservation Alliance. In the last several years, Richardson Window Works has assisted more than 20 property owners in Otsego County and the Capital Region in repair, restoration, and weatherization of their original windows. Richardson holds a BFA with a concentration in sculpture from State University of New York at Albany. He has exhibited at the Cherry Valley Sculpture Trail and at the Cooperstown Art Association.

This workshop will take place at Earth Festival from 11am-1pm and is sponsored by Otsego 2000. To register for this free program, visit Otsego 2000’s sign up page.
