Household Hazardous Waste Day – Residents – September 9

The Otsego County Solid Waste Department will be collecting a variety of household hazardous wastes, free of charge, from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Meadows, 140 County Highway 33W, Cooperstown. Hazardous materials accepted include paints, pesticides, solvents, mercury, chemical cleaners, automotive and household batteries, anti-freeze, pool chemicals, fluorescent and CFL bulbs, and more. OCCA, working in conjunction with the Alliance for Aquatic Resource Monitoring (ALLARM), is launching the first county-wide Citizen Science Water Quality Monitoring Program in the New York portion of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. To become an OCCA Stream Team monitor, join us for this training with ALLARM staff and learn how to measure and record important water quality parameters such as dissolved oxygen, pH, and nutrients.
