Celebrate Arbor Day with an exploration of the Oneonta's "Urban Forest." Learn about the benefits of urban forests and what the City of Oneonta is doing to protect its forest against invasive species like the emerald ash borer. Drop off used agricultural plastic film, including bale wrap, bunker silo cover, silage bags, greenhouse covers, and wood pellet bags for FREE recycling. Plastic film should be relatively clean and dry (shake off excess feed, dirt and mud) and sorted by type. Take a 2-mile walk on the lower loop in Basswood Pond State Forest in Burlington Flats. The forest includes pine and spruce plantations, mixed hardwoods, a beaver pond and wetlands. Enjoy late spring wildflowers and look for signs of the forest's abundant wildlife. Meet at 9 am at the Day Use area on Conservation Road.
