Volunteer Day: Trailblazing at Texas School House State Forest

The Town of New Lisbon, in cooperation with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation will be creating a trail system in the 1,245-acre Texas School House State Forest. When completed, the trail will take hikers through a variety of terrain and habitats, including mature woodlands and by a large pond. Volunteers will clear the proposed trail of debris and downed trees using hand tools. All participants are required to sign a DEC volunteer registration form (under 18 requires parental signature) available here: VSAformblank. Wear close-toed work shoes, long pants, a hat, and work gloves. Bring water and insect repellent. Individuals, families, and groups are welcome to join. Meeting location is on Jones Road, approximately .75 miles west of the intersection of Jones Road and Texas Road. DEC map available here.
