Our Environment. Our Home. OUR CHALLENGE.

Welcome to the Film Plastic Recycling Challenge site. The challenge is modeled after the Trex Company Recycling Challenge where schools collect and weigh film plastic to not only win prizes, but help get things like single-use plastic bags out of the waste stream.

What is film plastic?

Film plastic can be defined as any plastic less than 10 mil thick. The majority of plastic films are made from polyethylene resin and are readily recyclable if the material is clean and dry. What does that mean? Give it the “thumb test.” If you can stick your thumbs in it an stretch, then it is probably recyclable.

What can be recycled?

The important thing to remember with all these items is that the need to be CLEAN and NOT MIXED with other items.
