Be Informed: Growing and Maintaining Plants in the Presence of Deer
March 22 @ 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Is there such a thing as deer-proof gardening, and how can deer affect the health of our forested landscape? Devin Merkley of the Clark Foundation’s Mohican Farm and David Cox of Cornell Cooperative Extension team up to introduce the effects deer pressure can have on both gardens and forested areas and methods available to mitigate them. Cox will also introduce types of plants that are deer resistant. Devin Merkley is a Cornell Master Forest Owner Volunteer and supports environmental projects at the Clark Foundation in Cooperstown New York. David Cox currently serves as the Interim Agriculture-Horticulture Program Leader for CCE Schoharie and Otsego Counties, having retired in 2020 after serving in a similar capacity for seventeen years. His background is in landscape design, construction, and nursery operations.
PLEASE NOTE this program venue has changed and will take place in the Community Room at the Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown.
