Brad Edmondson, author of A Wild Idea, and Gregory Farmer from OLT join us for an animated discussion of land conservation past and present. Through Brad’s talk, we will learn about the birth of Adirondack State Park. Most of its territory is privately owned, but the Park looks almost completely undeveloped. How did that happen? Brad tells the story of how a small group of activists worked for decades to pass The Adirondack Park Agency Act in 1973, what the new law meant, and how it pushed North Country communities to the brink of violence. After this, Gregory Farmer from OLT will talk about local land conservation and the work of the Otsego Land Trust.
