Ride and Walk: Lackawanna Trail Park

10/23/2021 @ 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Enjoy a train ride and a trail walk with OCCA and the Utica, Chenango and Susquehanna Valley Railroad Company.

The program begins at the Lackawanna Trail Park’s South Columbia train shed with a ride on the historic narrow-gauge train. After the guided train ride, OCCA Program Director, Jeff O’Handley leads a walk of approximately 3.5 miles round trip along the railroad’s right-of-way, where we’ll enjoy the fall foliage and the sights and sounds of the Great Cedar Swamp. Participants can either finish out the trip by catching a later train back to the shed or walking the final .75 miles.

To participate you must purchase tickets ($15/adult, $8/child) through the UC&SV Railroad. Advance tickets are available at Lackawanna Trail Park Train Tickets. To participate in the guided walk you must purchase tickets for the 1pm train on October 23 only. Additional train rides are available at 2, 3 and 4pm, but without the guided nature walk. Feel free to bring binoculars, water and a snack and dress for the weather.

Park at the Newark Milk & Cream Co. building, 167 McKoons Road, Richfield Springs (42.88989251000421, -75.00727830299593).
