Solar System Walk–the Earth as a Peppercorn
10/19/2019 @ 10:00 am to 11:30 am
FreeTravel from the sun to all the way to Pluto–on foot! Former OCCA board member Bill Ralston leads this thousand-yard walk that models our solar system accurately, and at a scale that makes the reality of our neighborhood in space both understandable and awe-inspiring. Common objects like a bowling ball, walnuts and peppercorns are used to represent the sun and planets in scale. Suitable for adults and children 9 and up, whether you know anything about astronomy or not.
We will meet at the parking area by the railroad tracks on County Road 11C, Cooperstown, and walk along the railroad right of way. Rain date: 10/20.
