Drive-Thru, Drop-Off-2023
WHAT A HAUL!

On April 29th, OCCA hosted our popular drive-thru drop-off recycling event at Brewery Ommegang.  Thanks to many dedicated volunteers, we collected recycling from 181 cars.  Staff and volunteers were surprised at the volume of VHS and audio tapes dropped off (see below), along with many other hard to recycle items.

Trail Volunteer Training

On Saturday, April 22 a dozen people participated in OCCA’s first Trail Volunteer Training session at Basswood Pond State Forest in Burlington. Training focused on rules, techniques and tools for conducting routine maintenance on hiking trails in Otsego County. Seven people signed up to adopt a portion of trails in Basswood Pond and Arnold Lake State Forest. If you are interested in trail volunteer work, contact Program Director Jeff O’Handley at programdirector@occainfo.org. A big thanks to volunteer, Tom Walsh for his expertise and enthusiasm, as well as Peg Odell from Otsego 2000/Otsego Outdoors, and Luke Van Der Veur and Alex Cooley from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.”
